Birch

I would like you to meet Sam.

Sam.jpg

Sam is a very sweet, disobedient lively Beagle.
He's very good at following scent trails, he's not good at all working really hard at listening to his boss. When he finds something he likes, he won't let go easily.
He was at a my sister's birthday party last weekend.

Where does all this lead to, you ask?

I would like you to meat this ball of Kid Silk Haze.

It was bought last saturday at the Ryahuis in Zuidlaren, together with two siblings. It was destined to become Birch from Rowan magazine 34. The 3 little, delicate balls where in my bag, which I placed under the table. Big mistake.

After a lot of chasing by a lot of people, the ball was finaly saved from the jaws of monster Beagle Sam. It now looks like this.

I think it is still knitable. There isn't too much mud and saliva on it....

Anyway, I started Birch!

I really like it so far. In the LYS in Zuidlaren, they had a knit up sample, so I could try it on. I have to say I wasn't too impressed with all the examples I found in knitting blog land. Turns out I really had to see and feel it in person to fall for Birch!

What an awful thing to have happen to such a lovely ball of yarn! I hope a nice bath fixes it up.

Your Birch is amazing! Very, very pretty.

I AM SO JEALOUS! I started Birch for the fourth time now, but I find it very hard to knit. Especially the K2tog tbl's are driving me crazy.... Maybe I should try my circular needle, like you're using.

I like the colour you chose! And isn't it nice and soft, this KidSilk Haze? CrackSilk Haze, as some people call it. So beware!

:D We have a one year old, and I started knitting again about 6 months ago. Since then I've chased her quite a few times to get a ball from her. Mind you, quite often the knitting - luckily with the needles - is a few metres behind her! Or the pieces of fluff I was following through the house to find her in a corner with a ball of coloured roving which was ready to be spun!

Oh well, it survived!

at least it shows that sam has exceptionally good taste in yarn. are you sure you haven't taught him to knit?

is that the colour blushes? i have just ordered some for the river stole. it is just so divine!

But how can you possibly be mad at him when he's so cute?! What an adorable beagle! And your Birch looks like it's going to be beautiful.

Hi,

I just read the story about Sam and the chase. Very funny! It wasn't that funny at the time, everybody running around, chasing Sam and the yarn, Sam trying to hide in the bushes where no one could reach him... I was really afraid there would be permanent damage... Luckily everything seems to have turned out ok.

Your Birch is really coming along great! I'm looking forward to seeing it finished!
