Light

I'm so happy the light is coming back again! When I come home from work at around 6 o'clock, it there is still enough daylight to take a decent picture of my knitting. I have to be quick though, it lasted about 5 minutes today.

This is the result:

Noro153scarf.jpg

It's the scarf I'm making from the Noro Kureyon # 153 I bought at the needelecraft fair last Friday. It's coming along nicely, although I have some reservations about its width. I've made a Kureyon scarf before, casting on 34 stitches, which I was happy with. Just to make this one a bit different, I cast on 40 stitches. Somehow, I find it's turning out a little on the wide side, maybe about 6 stitches too wide.... I guess I'll let it rest a couple of days, see how I feel about it then. If I still don't like it: to the frog pond it goes!

This is a variation on the one in Last Minute Knitted Gifts, right? Yours is pretty, with nice restful colors; I hope you won't rip it out. :-)

Very nice! I looked at your other Kureyon scarf -- is it knitted in a k1p1 rib? From the photo both look a bit like a stockinette stitch, but I don't see the edges curling.
Regards,
Debra

I love the colors!

You use the colors to such nice effect by striping this yarn-- I've never thought to use Kureyon in such a way before. In the past when I've encountered Kureyon, I found the color changes to be a bit jarring, but this design seems to maximize the potential of these variegated colors.

I also find Kureyon to be a little on the scratchy side-- does it bother you at all for a next-to-the-skin accessory like a scarf?

Your scarf is beautiful! Are you just alternating rows with each ball of kureyon? I was going to do a multidirectional scarf with my silk garden but now I think I may have to try this pattern instead. :) (I love Panther, by the way...the photo of her inspecting your Mermaid sweater a few posts back was priceless).

fijne dag! Anne
