Getting there
First of all: thank you for all the lovely comments, I really appreciate them. I'm a little behind in answering, but give me some time and I'll get to it. In the meantime, I'll answer some of the questions here.
What is a chibi, like you got at the fair in Den Bosch?
A chibi is a plastic holder for sewing needles [een naaldenkokertje], shaped like a fat little knitting needle. It is made by the Japanes firm Clover. I got it from a quilting shop called Quilting Together, based in Kaatsheuvel. They do have a website, but it is so very ugly, that I don't dare linking to it.... Oh well, alright, here it is. I told you so, didn't I? Anyway, they do sell some lovely stuff, and I heard they will be at the first Dutch SnB-day in Rotterdam November 18.
What is the pattern you are using for the socks beneath the chibi?
The motif comes from a pattern called Tiit's socks in the wonderful Folk Knitting in Estonia by Nancy Bush, incorporated in the standard sock pattern that I keep in my head.
The socks for my aunt are coming along nicely. I finished the first, the second one already has a heelflap. I hope to finish it tomorrow (during my two train rides of 5 hours total).
Friday night, I took a break from the socks after I found a very cute knitted kitten at Knitting Iris (you have to scroll down, it's the last picture). And she included a link to the pattern!
It's really very easy and fun to make. I thought my cats would love to play with it, but they're not interested at all, go figure.
Last but not least: I hope to meet some of you at the second SnB-Fryslân meeting this Wednesday night (November 1), at 7.30 PM in Café Wouters (opposite to the train station) in Leeuwarden (the Netherlands, obviously).
After being interviewed for an article in the Leeuwarder Courant (a regional newspaper) together with Tijm, we're hoping lots of people will join us on this Wednesday. I forgot to take a picture of the article, so the link I included is to Tijm's blog.

Saartje, wat worden de sokken mooi! Daar zal je tante erg blij mee zijn! En zal heerlijke warme voeten krijgen.Ik hoop dat er een aantal nieuwe breisters jullie kant op komen. Het lukt me niet om te komen deze keer. Maar wil graag een keertje komen.Ik heb bijna de trui uit het Noorse blad klaar. Als hij klaar is stuur ik je een foto.

Hoi Saartje, ga jij ook naar Rotterdam op 18 november? Ik ben echt van plan ook te komen, het is haalbaar voor mij met de trein en het lijkt me zo leuk eens naar een brei-event te komen! Ik ben natuurlijk wel wat nerveus, zo helemaal alleen ergens komen waar ik absoluut niemand ken, maar ik kom graag naar Nederland, de mensen zijn er zowieso vriendelijk!
Misschien zie ik je daar wel!

Vrolijke boel op de foto in de krant, met al die prachtige werkstukken. De Salina- trui staat je uitstekend! Eerlijk gezegd wel leuk om jouw hoofd te zien, al kan ik me voorstellen dat je dit liever niet wilde. Sterkte voor je tante; bedankt voor de link naar de zwarte kat, ga hem maken voor dochterlief die er zelf eentje heeft; maar dan met witte sokjes.

Cute kitty! Have you seen the new free patterns for Kiki and Piet on Berocco's site? I made Kiki, but my cats aren't interested in it either. But my husband and I think it's very nice. I used Lamb's Pride Bulky, left over from Wendy Knits' cat bed pattern, which one of my cats DOES like. (Whew- at last! Something they like!)

sinds afgelopen juni heb ik een eigen webwinkel met een uitgebreid assortiment breiwol, handwerkpakketten en hobbymaterialen.
Misschien een leuke tip voor wie een mooi bolletje wol of iets wat op de site staat wilt aanschaffen. Langskomen kan ook want de koffie staat hier altijd klaar.
