Wow!

First of all: thank you all so much for your congratulations and best wishes! I couldn't have imagined so many of you taking the time to write, so I'm completely, but happily, overwhelmed. So far, everything is going fine with the little one, so let's hope it stays that way.

Of course, I will be knitting some baby things, but not exclusively, I can tell you. I like making small things, but I don't enjoy all the seaming etc. involved. For example these baby shoes from Simple knits for cherished babies:

They're a breeze to knit, but then you have to sew almost all of the sole to the upper part and close the back seam. I'm used to socks and mittens, where you only have to weave in a few ends and then you're done. Do you know what I mean? So I will be knitting some other stuff too, besides these baby things. Of course, if you know about some clever patterns for cute baby knits with a minimal amount of finishing, please let me know!

I did find a pattern like that myself in the Garnstudio pattern database. It's a cardigan, knit sideways, in 100% alpaca.

The English pattern is here, voor de Nederlandse versie klik hier. I got the yarn at the needle craft fair in Zwolle last weekend. Because we're still very busy moving, I couldn't afford to spend much time at the fair. I did have a great time, and managed to buy some lovely yarn. Apart from the Drops Alpaca shown above, I got this at Klazien's booth:

Some silkwool I need to finish the Pea Pod Baby Cardigan (link to pdf) and some more Arwetta sock yarn.

And at the Storm op Zolder, I got an undyed skein of organic Blue Face Leicester sock yarn. It's so soft!

In the meanwhile, as I mentioned, The Move is still taking most of my time. I'm really fed up with it by now, I just want to feel settled again... At least I got the chance to enjoy the sunrise at our new place a couple of times already, when the weather was good.

Almost there...

We're almost done moving. We still have to clean up the house we left and unpack lots of boxes in the new house, but things are starting to settle down. Finally!

My knitting stuff is finding its new place, little by little. Here are my knitting books (some of them) and my sock yarn (most of it).

My other yarn is still in boxes like these:

Mind you, some of these boxes contain T's computer stuff (but then again, not all my yarn boxes are in this picture...). It is tiring, but also kind of inspiring to go through all the yarn I have. But first I want to try to finish this:

It's the shaped cardigan from Poetry in Stitches and it is coming along just fine as you can see. Besides this cardigan, you'll notice me knitting more and more things like this:

A small baby cardigan from Simple Knits for Cherished Babies. Time to break the big news: T and I are expecting a little one at the end of May. Very exciting indeed and lots of small knits ahead!
