Another one bites the dust

Moving to Groningen is good because I'm closer to two great yarnshops. Unfortunately, I found out one of them is closing: the Breibrink in Annen, which I wrote about in this blog entry. I'm sorry to see this shop go.... I'm glad the Ryahuis in Zuidlaren is still there (also a really great shop, read about it here). Of course, I went to Annen to check out the sales, and I came home with these (to the left ;-):

Three balls of Phildar Lambswool (51% lambswool, 41% acrylic). I'm thinking about making a baby sweater with it. By the way, thanks for all the suggestions for baby patterns that require minimal finishing. I yet have to check them all out, but I really appreciate your tips!

In the meantime, I've been knitting on my shaped cardigan from Poetry in Stitches.

The first sleeve is about halfway done. I still enjoy knitting this, and I hope to finish it in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to wearing it, even if I won't be able to close it for a while. That's what I like about cardigans: they're versatile like that.

Moving issues
As a result of the move, we got a different internet provider. This means my email address has changed. It is now saartjeknits AT home DOT nl (change the AT to @ and the DOT to . and remove the spaces). I also have to move my finished things site and free patterns. I hope to get around to that this weekend. In the meantime, you'll get some broken links when you try to go there. Thanks for your patience.

And if you'll excuse me now, I'm off to a evening of knitting with Stitch 'n Bitch Fryslân!

It's nice to see you back. I was just thinking earlier about how you hadn't posted for a while. I have about half a dozen balls of the Phildar Lambswool that were intended for booties from the 50 Baby Booties book , my daughter is now a toddler and they're still unused. I'm thinking they might be good for colourwork socks instead.

I love the colors of the yarn. And I love the flower. What type of flower is it?

Mooi garen Saartje. Leuke stad!! Hoe was de s'nB avond? Je breiwerk wordt mooi. Je schiet al aardig op met je vest.

I'm glad the move went well! Moving can be so stressful!! I really love the purple yarn you're using for the sweater. What is it? It's such a rich color. Phildar's Lambswool is great baby yarn! Good luck with pattern selection!

Thanks for telling us about De Breibrink closing. What a pity!
At the Needlecraftfair in Zwolle the people from SnB Utrecht told me about a shop called Het Stookhok in Alteveer (Groningen). I haven't been there yet, but they said it was really worth a visit. website: www.hetstookhok.com.
Love the colours of the Phildar yarn. It is very nice and soft and knits up very regularly. I knitted a doll's blanket and some dolls clothes from it.

New yarn always brings such joy. I want to thank you and your commentors for posting pattern links too. I've begin some knitting for a friend's baby to be born in October.

Aaargh, the one good yarn shop that's within normal bicycle reach for me is going to close. I'm not sure I will have a good night's sleep tonight. I'll have to go there today to see what they have left of all the lovely Drops Garnstudio they used to have and buy one ball of each to refresh my memory, because in future I'll have to order Drops online. And cycle further to get to Zuidlaren. There's so much difference in actually feeling yarn or just look at pictures.
I really admire your skill to restrain yourself to go to a yarn shop and come home with only three balls (but maybe there isn't anything decent left and you got the last of it :). I expect a yarn-frenzy today.

I have been visiting your site for months now and finally had the nerves to send you a comment...

Congrats on the "little one"!

Thank you for letting us take a peek in your knitting life.

Many kind greetings!
