Something new
Look what I got in the mail the other day:

Aren't they just the cutest? Made especially for the little boy or girl who is due at the end of May, by fellow Dutch knit blogger Lies. She used this beautiful nealy solid shade of Lorna's Laces, it's very soft. Thank you so much Lies, I love them! And if you want to make your own newborn socks just like these: Lies has put up the pattern (in English) on her blog!
I finished the socks from Knitting Vintage Socks, but I haven't had a chance to have their picture taken. I also finished the Pead Pod Cardigan. All I have to do now is find some buttons for it and then I'll show it here.
So that's two FO's! Of course y'all know what that means: I started a new project. A couple of weeks ago, I saw it at Anna Bell's blog My Fashionble Life. The Cardigan I Simply Have To Knit. Here it is. It's called Flicca. I bought the pattern rightaway and then the search for the right yarn began.
Two weeks ago, I visited the yarn shop in Zuidlaren, Ryahuis. It was so difficult to choose, but I settled for this:

It's Lana Grossa Royal Tweed (100% merino, 50 g = 100 m) in color #10. I'm using 6 mm needles and my gauge is off, but I'm compensating for that by knitting a larger size. Even though it's a big cardigan, it's going really fast at this gauge! I already finished the first sleeve:

And I started the back. I hope it will turn out like the I'm imagining.... Oh, and if you want to see some more pictures of Flicca check these out at Flickr.

Hey, Flicca looks awesome. How many balls did you buy? I'm guessing I should knit (estimated post birth bust size... I'm dreading it already) the 40-42" size, but that's 24 balls of yarn! Which equals about 95Euros and is therefore a really expensive piece of clothing for me. Plus I'm short (1.62m) so I'd like to make it at least 10-even 20cm shorter.

The socks are a lovely gift! I wish you the best as the time draws near.

Yes, isn't flicca lovely? I've been on the lookout for super-discounted yarn ever since I saw this gorgeous pattern. I can't wait to see yours! The yarn you've chosen looks beautiful.
And what a lucky baby, those are some fine booties!

I have really enjoyed reading your blog. I'm a 65 year old New Yorker, have been knitting for about 2 years (used to knit as a teenager). I am a painter but had no time to work due to my "killer" job. Now I'm retired. We will spend 4 weeks in Amsterdam in the fall and will look for a knitting circle. I was impressed with the Netherland knitters in the exhibition at the Museum of Art and Design, entitled "Radical Lace and Subversive Knitting"...exquisite and so interesting. Looking forward to coming to the Netherlands. Am working on my own website: Artisanwear.com...coming whenever I figure it out.
