Transformation
I finally found this:
hiding in a box somewhere. I needed it to turn this:
into this:
to knit this:
It's a sleeve for the Pea Pod Cardigan (a free pattern from Interweave Knits) I'm making.
I decided to knit the sleeves in the round, so I won't have to close the seam. All I have to do in the finishing department is to sew in the sleeves and sew on the buttons. I yet have to find buttons for this though. I'm thinking about some wooden ones, or maybe just some simple buttons in (almost) the same color as the yarn, if I can find those.
In the meantime, my wonderful mother finished what she was working on:
Isn't it adorable? It's the Strawberry Set from La Droguerie. I got it in a kit last summer on holiday in Strasbourg, remember? The yarn is bamboo, and it's really soft. Here are some details:
I can't wait to see it on!

Ohhhh Saartje, wat een lief stelletje breide je moeder voor de baby! Maar ook jou babypakje ziet er erg leuk uit. Zelf heb ik ook het patroon liggen. Denk er over het voor mijn vierde kleinkind te gaan breien. In september wordt het geboren. Gaat het goed met de zwangerschap? Bevalt je nieuwe huis? Veel breiplezier verder.

Wow! I better give La Droguerie a second look. I'm not a big fan normally, but the strawberry ensemble the grandmother-to-be made is so beautiful and nicely blocked too.

Dat is echt een schattig setje geworden en ook het vest wordt erg mooi.
Heerlijk toch om al die mooie dingetjes te maken voor je kind.
Mijn kinderen zijn al wat groter, Vera is gisteren 8 jaar geworden en Casper wordt morgen 10 jaar. Als je dan wat voor ze wilt maken dan moet dan in overleg, anders loop je het risico dat ze het niet aan willen. Ik vind dat overleggen ook wel leuk hoor, al zul je soms iets moeten maken waar je zelf niet zoveel in ziet.
Dus geniet met volle teugen en maak wat je maken wilt want het cliché dat het allemaal zo snel zou gaan klopt echt!

Stefanie Japel has a new book out called "Fitted Knits". There is a lovely sweater using the Land Grossa Royal Tweed that you just purchased.
Thought you might like to know. The sweater is on page 102 and the cover of the book. It's my favorite.

Saartje, ik wil je mijn complimenten maken over al het moois dat je maakt. En wat heb je een prachtige dochter, beeldschoon.
Mag ik brutaal zijn en vragen of je het patroon nog hebt van het aarbeien-pakje? Zo schattig.
Ik kan het nl. niet vinden.
Ook de slofjes van een patroon uit de Marie Claire van zomer 2004 vind ik zo leuk. Ik maak zonnekindpoppen en zou deze patroontjes, met enige aanpassing, goed voor hun voetjes kunnen gebruiken. Ik dank je en wens je een mooie dag.

Ik heb je slofjes op mijn sloffen gebreid, maar ik moest even goed nadenken, want je kunt niet steeds tot een de 'm' doorbreien. Het voetje zal dan nooit gevormd worden. Het stekenaantal verandert steeds, maar ik ben er snel uitgekomen en ze zijn erg leuk geworden. Hartelijk dank voor het beschikbaar stellen van het patroon.
