Finished Pea Pod
I found some buttons in my mother's button collection that I thought were perfect for the Pea Pod Cardigan.
So it is officially finished now! I like it, I'm especially happy about the color. Oh and, for those of you who don't know yet: the pattern for this cardigan is free from Interweave Knits. There are some other great patterns there too, go check them out if you haven't already.
Flicca is progressing nicely. So far, I finished one sleeve, the back and the left front. Both Dropje and Panter have tested the pieces and they seem to agree: nice and soft!
Nicole asked: How many balls did you buy?
I got 20 balls. Because of the smaller gauge I'm getting, I'm knitting the second largest size, but with the measurements for the smallest size. I just started the 11th ball, so I think I'm going to be okay.
This weekend, I paid a visit to a shop in Groningen I heard about, but hadn't been to yet.

Because the shop is mostly a quilters shop (which you can tell from their very colorful website, no mention of yarn there), I wasn't expecting much. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this:
I think they are aiming at weavers mostly, but they have some great yarns I think would be lovely to knit with! How about Borgs Mora (that's the yarn my mother used for the shawl), Tuna or Brage?
The woman in the shop actually apologized for not having any synthetic yarn, only natural materials! I didn't buy anything, but I am happy to know where to find these yarns when I get a sudden urge to start something new.

Wow, wat een leuk vestje voor je kindje. Je hebt de boel toch wel om moeten rekenen want het is een veel dunner garen dan aan gegeven was. Hoe dan ook het is goed gelukt.

The Pea Pod Cardigan looks so lovely! I adore the color, and the buttons are perfect. I have that on my list of things I absolutely must knit when the time comes for my husband and I decide to start a family of our own.

Your peapod is beautiful. Won't it look sweet when your little pea is out of the pod and into that sweater. (In the US there is a maternity shop called "pea in the pod".)

Het vestje ziet er prachtig uit. De knoopjes zijn inderdaad heel erg geschikt.
Wat leuk dat je nog een goede garenwinkel gevonden hebt in Groningen. Ik begrijp dat ze nogal dunne garens hebben of kun je er ook dikkere garens krijgen? En alleen maar natuurlijke materialen, dat is al helemaal geen straf! Als ik weer eens in Groningen kom dan ga ik zeker een keer bij ze kijken.

Echt heel heel erg mooi, het vestje wat je hebt gemaakt, jullie kindje boft maar!! Waanzinnige shawl ook zeg die je moeder wil gaan maken, kunstig.

Thanks for the answer :-) It's getting so hot here already I don't think I'll be starting Flicca anytime soon, but it's good to know that I'll probably be ok with 20 balls of that yarn. Now I'll just have to find it on discount ;-)
The Peapod cardigan looks so lovely in blue, I didn't like it much in green and was thinking about knitting it in a different color, too.

Saartje, het vestje is erg leuk geworden. Schattige knoopjes! De katte kinderen hebben het goed bij jou op je breiwerk. Echt katten hé! Gaan overal lekker liggen. En dan die sjaal voor je schoonzus!!! PRACHTIG is tie. Kompliment voor je moeder. Zal erg mooi staan als ze trouwt. Alles goed met jou en de baby?

Ik heb eens met een garen dat 'Mora' heette een kanten stola gebreid (zie 1 december 06 op mijn blog). Het was een Zweeds garen, bedoeld om te weven dat ik in Stockholm heb gekocht, maar je kon er perfect mee breien. En met het 'Tuna'garen heb ik lekker warme wanten gebreid. Alletwee schitterende garens. Nog veel plezier met het baby-breien !

I read your blog for a long time (it looks great), but only read, not write to you! Now you tell us about the cordi atelier at groningen, this shop looks great. In holiday I will drive to groningen. My netherlands-language are not so good, so I don't understand the open time from this shop. Can you help me?

The Pea Pod baby cardigan looks beautiful and I love the color too. The buttons look great with it. I think your mum's shawl is absolutely beautiful too, what a pretty creation. Love the baby socks, might have to check out that pattern.

Im amazed of the Swedish yarn you have! I agree, Mora is great for shawls. A bit curious: Are you familiar with a book on Netherland Knitting? I saw it on Amazon today? Is it any good? Do you know? (Ps both shawl and kiddy sweater looks great! - And the Marimekko boarder! Feels very Nordic!

Hoi, Saartje, wat een prachtig vestje heb je gemaakt. Vooral de sluiting vind ik erg lief. Dat gaat er zometeen geweldig uitzien, met je eigen kindje er in.
De winkel in Groningen ben ik een keer geweest. Ongelooflijk dat ze zoveel hebben op zo'n klein stukje. Maar iedereen weet ze te vinden. Zelfs spinspul zag ik toen. Er is zoveel keus, je moet weten wat je wilt als je er heen gaat, anders kom je of met nix of met te veel thuis. De roze sjaal is heel erg mooi. En lekker groot.

hallo saartje ,even geen vragen hoor!!!als ik moe ben kijk ik altijd even op je site om te ontspannen en ideeen op te doen waar door de drukte niks van terecht komt maar toch..gewoon effen lekker wol en patronen kijken.
ik vroeg mij af..ken je de schapenkop in nieuwpoort?
daar kan ik rustig een paar uur vertoeven,maar het ligt voor jou zeker niet naast de deur.
nieuwpoort is een piepklein dorpje aan de overkant van schoonhoven in zuid holland
maar zo'n heerlijke winkel.
kijk anders maar eens op hun site dan kun je misschien wol ontdekken die je niet kent.
alhoewel mij dat sterk lijkt als ik lees wat je allemaal in huis hebt.
in ieder geval bedankt voor je leuke site en sterkte met de bevalling
