Kilthose
Finally, I was able to pursuade my photographer to take some action shots of my finished Highland Schottische Kilthose.

I'm very happy with the way they turned out. The yarn is Lana Grossa Meilenweit Seta/Cashmere (65 % merino, 15 % silk, 16 % polyamide and 4 % cashmere, 190 m/ 50 g). As you can imagine, it's very soft and lovely to work with. We'll see how well it holds up with wear.
Here's a shot of the calf decreases:

All in all a very comfy pair of knee socks! The pattern is in Folk Socks by Nancy Bush.

Something else:
I Got In.
I made it to The Other Side.
What am I talking about? Well, Ravelry of course! If you're there too, come and say hello (I'm Saartjeknits), if you're not there yet, be patient. It's worth the wait.
In the meantime, I'm having a great time spending the autumn holiday at Terschelling. Tomorrow we're going home again...

Gorgeous socks.
And I love the pictures of the church.
Ravelry is fun. I feel as though I am only barely scratching the surface of it.

Oh! beautiful socks! With the cold weather approaching I'm so eager to begin a pair of knee socks. Thanks for the tip about the pattern book you used. I have seen it at my library, but I have not borrowed it yet.
Enjoy your holiday.

Your socks are so amazing. Some day I will be able to knit like you.
I was in Opende and Oudkerke last year. My husband comes from a Dutch community in Lynden, WA. His grandfather wrote a book about growing up in Opende during the occupation. He took a bunch of us (his family) there for a book signing he did there. It was beautiful and I am in love. The countryside looks almost exactly like Lynden, I felt so at home.

I have photos of your booties on my blog. I just love the pattern! Everyone who sees these is delighted. I wrapped them up in a new way (at least for me).

Such lovely socks! A lot of work to be certain! And that church is gorgeous! I love to see photos of old churches so thank you for sharing with all of us.
When I was a child I grew up in England, and then moved to Belgium for 10 months as a teenager. There are beautiful buildings like that church building all over Europe and it makes me yearn to go back to visit someday.

I love your blog!
Links to patterns are wonderful! And everything you make comes out so beautiful.
I'm going to make the bootees for the baby we're expecting at the end of January.
When reading some of your archives, I noticed your trouble with sleeve lengths. I wondered if you had ever considered knitting both sleeves at the same time -- on the same needle, with 2 seperate skeins of yarn. This has always reassured me that they would come out identical- or exactly reversed.

WOW, those are absolutely beautiful! Great job...

Hoi Saartje.

Hello Saartje. I am very pleased to have "stumbled" upon your site.I lived in NL for 4 years from 1977-1980, very probably before you were born! I loved my experiences in NL - the people, my friends, the way life carries on. I knit, knit knit -- your knitting is lovely. I learned to crochet in Dutch & German while living in NL -- still can't read an English pattern. I love the mix of Nederlands and English on your site -- good practice for a lapsed bi-lingual!
Tot ziens!
