Ready for winter

I knitted Lotte a hat. I think she likes it.

Djevellue1.jpg

It's made from Jamieson & Smith 2-ply jumper wool, knit on 3 mm dpns (2.5 mm for the garter stitch edging). The pattern is available in Norwegian and English.

Djevellue2.jpg

Here you can see the way the hat is constructed a little better. It fits quite well and keeps Lotte's ears nice and warm. Please let us have a real winter this year, not just months of rain and temperatures of 9C / 48F!

Hello, that is a lovely hat, so cute (and baby, too). I came across your blog and I just had to comment on your beautiful work. I have a question about an old entry- a year ago, actually- the multi-colored socks in your 05,NOV,2006 entry are really nice. Is that an available pattern, or your own design? Thank you for inspiring my knitting all the way over here in Alaska,
Heather

How sweet! The striping is a nice design element in this style of hat.
And that sweet little face!!

Posted by: Tijm at November 15, 2007 7:00 AM

Oh, Saartje! Lotte is just the sweetest little thing. She looks like a living doll. Her new hat is so precious! Extra kisses to the darling baby, please. :)

Posted by: Karma at November 15, 2007 7:20 AM

Posted by: Hannah at November 15, 2007 7:20 AM

Posted by: Nynke at November 15, 2007 8:25 AM

I've seen so many of these out there, but not modelled on and actual baby. I love how this fits, and the colors you used really highlight her complexion. She's beautiful.

Posted by: Siri at November 16, 2007 5:28 AM

Like an impish character out of an old-fashioned story book! Her big, pink cheeks, her sparkling eyes, her gleeful smile, so adorable!

And the hat's almost as adorable as she is! Thanks for the pattern link.

superschattig !

Posted by: dominique at November 16, 2007 10:44 AM

Lovely! the hat and, of course, the baby girl...
Here in Portugal we also have 9C. But it will be higher in the midlle of the day. Yesterday i went to the beach and there were a few people in bathing suits. How´s that for a winter?

Posted by: Jacqueline at November 17, 2007 4:44 PM

Lekker fris helder weer. Succes met breien. groetjes Ineke.

I'm with ya on the weather thing. Minnesota - in the old days - would have mountains of snow and freezing temps. Now we don't see snow until after Christmas and spring is about two weeks early. Ugh. Scary.

The hat is so darn cute I'm going to have to knit one! I LOVE IT! So many hats for babes are in practical (no ear flaps) so this pattern is perfect - your yarn choice is great!

Posted by: Rani at November 19, 2007 4:22 PM

What a beautiful baby and hat!!!
I love it and can't wait to knit it. I loved the booties. Soooo cute!
You are a talented knitter!

Posted by: Sam at November 28, 2007 6:49 PM

Posted by: Amber at December 10, 2007 7:56 AM

Oh, my, cuteness! She's beautiful in her wee hat. And the shetland wool is not too itchy? Hoping she has many opportunities to wear it!

Hallo Saartje,

Groetjes Meia.

hi! just found your blog through someone else's site. I'm a Dutch girl myself. Actually, both of my parents emigrated from Holland, and I was born in Canada. cute hat! I have to say, I think Dutch babies are the cutest of them all!

Posted by: Natalie B at January 12, 2008 3:01 AM

Dag Saartje,
